              Amanda Michelle Todd (Vancouver, 27 de novembro de 1996 – Port Coquitlam, 10 de outubro de 2012) foi uma adolescente canadense que cometeu suicídio motivado por bullying virtual. Antes de sua morte, Todd postou um vídeo no YouTube em que ela usa cartões para contar sua experiência de ser chantageada, intimidada e fisicamente agredida. O vídeo se tornou viral após sua morte, resultando em repercussão internacional.

                 No momento da sua morte, Todd estudava na CABE, uma escola que atende a alunos que experimentaram problemas sociais.

          A Real Polícia Montada do Canadá e a British Columbia Coroners Service lançaram investigações sobre o suicídio. Em resposta à morte, Christy Clark, a primeira-ministra da Columbia Britânica, fez uma declaração online de condolências sugerindo um debate nacional sobre a criminalização do cyberbullying. Além disso, uma moção foi apresentada na Câmara dos Comuns do Canadá para propor um estudo do âmbito de bullying no Canadá, e para mais financiamento e apoio a organizações anti-bullying. A mãe de Todd, Carol, estabeleceu a Amanda Todd Trust, e com isso recebendo doações para apoiar o anti-bullying, a conscientização e programas para jovens com problemas de saúde mental.

      Amanda Michelle Todd ( Vancouver , November 27 of 1996 - Port Coquitlam , October 10 of 2012 ) was a Canadian teen who committed suicide motivated by bullying virtual. Before his death, Todd posted a video on YouTube in which she uses cards to tell his experience of being blackmailed, intimidated and physically assaulted. The video went viral after his death,  leading to international repercussions.

        At the time of his death, Todd studied at CABE, a school that caters to students who experience social problems.

          Um ou mais alunos xingam, agridem fisicamente ou isolam um colega, além de colocar apelidos grosseiros. Esse tipo de perseguição intencional definitivamente não pode ser encarado só como uma brincadeira natural da faixa etária ou como algo banal, a ser ignorado pelo professor. É muito mais sério do que parece. Trata-se de bullying. A situação se torna ainda mais grave quando o alvo é uma criança ou um jovem com algum tipo de deficiência – que nem sempre têm habilidade física ou emocional para lidar com as agressões.

           Tais atitudes costumam ser impulsionadas pela falta de conhecimento sobre as deficiências, sejam elas físicas ou intelectuais, e, em boa parte, pelo preconceito trazido de casa. Em pesquisa recente sobre o tema, realizada com 18 mil estudantes, professores, funcionários e pais, em 501 escolas em todo o Brasil, a Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe) constatou que 96,5% dos entrevistados admitem o preconceito contra pessoas com deficiência. Colocar em prática ações pedagógicas inclusivas para reverter essa estatística e minar comportamentos violentos e intolerantes é responsabilidade de toda a escola.

       As autoridades do estado da Florida, nos Estados Unidos, investigam o suicídio de Lamar Hawkins, de 14 anos, que foi encontrado morto na semana passada no banheiro da escola que frequentava, a Greenwood Lakes. A mãe de Hawkins, que o chama de “Shaq”, disse nesta segunda-feira (15) que o menino atirou contra si porque ele não conseguia lidar com o bullying que sofria “por muitos anos” dos outros alunos da escola, segundo informa a Reuters. “Shaq era abusado física e emocionalmente enquanto estava na escola”, declarou a mãe.

        De acordo com a TV local, a família já havia se mudado de Nova York para Lake Mary porque Hawkins sofria bullying na escola em que estudava antes. Ele teria usado uma arma de seu pai para se matar. A direção da escola diz que não tolera bullying, mas o advogado da família está reunindo documentos para mostrar que os pais de Hawkins haviam se reunido diversas vezes com diretores para falar sobre o caso, informa a Local 6.

Lançado no início do ano nos EUA, o aplicativo Secret desembarcou em maio no Brasil e, recentemente, virou febre entre os jovens. Por não identificar o autor das postagens compartilhadas, no entanto, o programa está sendo usado para a prática de bullying e, em casos mais graves, a disseminação de imagens de jovens nuas. Cyberbullying

          É a prática realizada através da internet que busca humilhar e ridicularizar os alunos, pessoas desconhecidas e também professores perante a sociedade virtual. Apesar de ser praticado de forma virtual, o cyberbullying tem preocupado pais e professores, pois através da internet os insultos se multiplicam rapidamente e ainda contribuem para contaminar outras pessoas que conhecem a vítima.

       Os meios virtuais utilizados para disseminar difamações e calúnias são as comunidades, e-mails, torpedos, blogs e fotologs. Além de discriminar as pessoas, os autores são incapazes de se identificar, pois não são responsáveis o bastante para assumirem aquilo que fazem. É importante dizer que mesmo anônimos, os responsáveis pela calúnia sempre são descobertos.

         Não existe um tipo de pessoa específica para ser motivo de insultos, sendo que a invasão do e-mail ou a exposição de uma foto já é o bastante. Em relação a colegas de escola e professores, as difamações são intencionadas e visam mexer com o psicológico da pessoa, deixando-a abatida e desmoralizada perante os demais.
